Infants, children and teens usually are grouped according to their age. Patients are admitted to the General Pediatric Unit for a variety of reasons including illness, injury or surgery. The unit specializes in family-centered care. All rooms are private, with a private bathroom, a couch/bed for a family member, a TV, video-viewing equipment and a music system.
Kakaki PICU specializes in family-centered care of critically ill children. Families are welcome at the child's bedside and will find many support spaces throughout the unit, such as family waiting areas, parent-sleep rooms and breast-feeding rooms.
Pediatric Infusion Therapy Center (PITC)
Kakaki PITC is a pediatric outpatient facility that serves children who need intravenous (IV) or infusion therapy. This includes chemotherapy, blood transfusions and antibiotic therapy.
Pediatric Rehabilitation Unit
Pediatric patients requiring multi-specialty intensive rehabilitative care including physical, occupational, speech and recreational therapy due to significant injury or illness causing disability receive care here. The unit has specially designated pediatric rooms, gyms, equipment, and personnel to care for children and teenagers.
Pediatric Emergency Department
Specially trained pediatric emergency medicine specialists, as well as pediatric medical specialists, pediatric surgeons, and child and adolescent psychiatrists, treat sick and injured children in the Pediatric Emergency Department.
